Disappointed by some of the comments on here as well, sorry bunch of trolls can't stop themselves! Comment posted by Kj77, at 18 Jul Kj Your comment isn't worthy of a reply, but I'll bite.. But someone has still lost their life, and if you're not saddened by that alone then you must have something mentally wrong.
I'm not an F1 fan, neither did I know him, yet I'm still saddened by someone losing their life You're just a keyboard warrior trying to fill a void in your life by trying to be "funny". Safety has improved immensely since Senna's day but we can never forget that these guys are putting their lives for our entertainment every time they climb into a cockpit. To all the negative people out there. Just to put it into perspective his mother and father have lost a son, his siblings have lost a brother, it's horrendous losing a loved one so please don't spam this feed with negative comments, Jules was a person and now he has passed he deserves some respect.

It used to happen with semi regularity. Between the debut of F1 and Senna , there were 37 fatalities. Some burned alive, right there in the cockpit on the hardtop. Some were more fortunate, came right up to the edge, their cars spinning into walls and spectators with just the luck to keep things ticking.

And then, of course: Senna, the three-time World Champion and reigning title-holder, the last before Bianchi. He was killed while working as an English Racing Automobiles team technical consultant. His car overturned while he was test driving.

As a result of this, Formula One celebrated the 20th fatality-free season in , up until Bianchi's accident in Japan. The 's remains the only decade to date in which no driver was killed.
